METAL CHURCH Singer's Memorial Weekend Address
May 24, 2008METAL CHURCH frontman Ronny Munroe has issued the following update:
"Turn on the television and get bombarded with negative news about gas prices and home foreclosures. Go to the store and buy food to feed your family and you are shocked at the bill. Sons, daughters, fathers and brothers getting shipped off to fight in other countries. Politicians on every channel. We have reached the boiling point and when people get to that place there needs to be an outlet. To quote Mr. Snider Fuck it! We're not going to take it anymore.
"Instead of sitting back and feeling hopeless we need to take back our power. By that I mean the control we have over ourselves and our own outlook. Music does that for us. Metal in particular allows us to work through those frustrations. You can lose yourself and forget your problems through music. The music that moves you, that takes you to a different time, that reminds you of something good will always be there for you like that friend that held you hair when you are shit faced and puking or saved you from having to gnaw your arm off the next morning. You all know what I mean, we have all had that friend.
"If you look at the economic climate in the '80s it mirrors today so it is no surprise that metal music is again finding its place. On this Memorial weekend as we pay our respect to those that fought so we have the right to voice our opinions, go out and support your local music scene or put you favourite tune on and raise your fists in the air, bang your head and forget about all the shit as you get lost in the music."
METAL CHURCH's new album, "This Present Wasteland", is scheduled for release later in the year via SPV Records.
METAL CHURCH's last CD, "A Light in the Dark", was released in June 2006 via SPV. The LP includes a new version of the classic "Watch the Children Pray" as a tribute to vocalist David Wayne, who passed away in May 2005.
